So I read an article on LinkedIn yesterday which inspired me. People often say there is something called writers bloc when writers don’t have inspiration to write. I think every Writer faces this at some point.
So the writer on LinkedIn was encouraging us to overcome writers bloc by just writing irrespective of how we feel. It inspired me and I decided to try the technique with this post to see how it would be.
I realised however that it’s not only writer that faces it, everybody does. There is a time when the athlete does not feel like training, or the lecturer does not feel like studying, but what makes the difference is not really what you feel like doing but what you commit yourself to do.
I recently learnt that in dream fulfilment, there is a big difference between passion or interest and commitment.
Passion or interest in what gives you entrance or access, but it is commitment that gives you success. Do a little research, you’ll see that it is not those that are passionate people that succeed but those that are committed to the toil of their chosen path. So I said to myself, I’m passionate, no doubt, but I choose to be much more committed.
Growing up I read a lot of self-help materials, in one of such I came across this quote by Napoleon Hill which talks about Self discipline. He said ‘self discipline is doing what you have to do whether you feel like or not’ Those that win in life are those that keep working even when their muscles ache, they are those that keep pressing on until they achieve the vision set before them.
I like to challenge people to get out of the status quo and start the journey to live the life they’ve dreamed of. It might take a while, but with commitment and consistency, it would come to pass.
Blessed by this?
