The world has gone past ‘ordinary education’. What everyone wants to know now is, ‘what can you do?’ This has become pertinent because we have many people parading their certificates without the skills to back it up.
One young Nigerian, who is currently in his final year in the University, yet developed solutions that Microfinance Banks use today is making us proud. In today’s episode of #TheInspiredDream, we have a Software Developer who calls himself: ‘an entrepreneur and solution provider’. Let’s meet him.
“My Name is Ogunwande Oluwole, i am a Software Developer, an Entrepreneur and a Solutions Provider.
I am the founder of SmartTeller: A digital banking platform for cooperatives and Microfinance.”
“Well, I did my primary education at Cardinal School Lagos, i attended Baptist Boys High School, Abeokuta and currently I am an Undergraduate at Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta where i am studying Computer Science.”
His product, SmartTeller is a solution that helps microfinance banks. Hear him:
“SmartTeller is bringing access to world class financial services to the unbanked and underbanked by providing microfinance institutions and cooperatives the all inclusive tool to provide them the basic services.”
Currently, SmartTeller has over 100+ Microfinance Institutions on board servicing over 10,000 Unbanked and Underbanked.
I should say SmartTeller is cloud based banking platform for cooperatives and microfinance. It is built with the goal of driving Financial inclusion in Nigeria and across Africa.”
For such a young man of 23 to be doing what he is doing, he must have some drive. Does he have a mentor? You bet!
He says Bunmi Lawson CEO of Accion Micro Finance Bank and CEO Techpoint Adewale yusuf.
How does he do it? Shuffling between school work and running a business?
“Hmm, multitasking was my weapon though it was challenging, I had to maximize my time and set my priorities right.
Sleepless nights, library surfing, Google backup where all part of journey.
Being the Software Director (Computer Science) FUNAAB. Had to also impact others too.
I believe in taking responsibilities and I am responsible for my time and my life. “What you do with your time is what you do with your life”
I built my company during my internship as an undergraduate. Combining school and StartUp was challenging, couldn’t drop one for the other, I had to do the two together. The goal is to create the dream Job.
So I had to work on products for the company to be well formed.”
Inspiring right?
